ASTORIA is the experimental electronica / trip-hop / pop project of Isabelle Celeste Ennis. Utilizing a medley of synthesizers, samplers, harp, Ableton, and guitar, the main orbit of the project is playful exploration.

Currently based in Brooklyn, NYC, the project was spawned from a desire to explore the blending of intricate, submersive sound design, synthesis, and field recordings with emotionally raw, transmutative songwriting.

Winding between dance-centric rhythms and downtempo, reflective plots, the project draws inspiration from melodic house, breakbeat, freak folk, noise, trip-hop, folk, classic pop, and artists such as Portishead, Gorillaz, Devendra Banhart, Rival Consoles, Boards of Canada, The Beatles, Little Dragon, and Joni Mitchell.

Hailing from rural New Jersey, the project began 11 years ago — the name ASTORIA taken from a STRFKR song at age 19 — and developed over eight years in Asheville, North Carolina.

As the founder of sound collective MIXED MEDIUM, her other projects include the dance project ORAGAMI and the slow grunge-folk project BLUE HORSE.

Her debut album BORNE WORLD was released in October 2024 as a 69-minute deep world exploration, culminating over eight years of both solo development and collaboration with Adam McDaniel of Drop of Sun.

Her sophomore project HOWLING is set to release in September 2026.
